Passports required to be shown on domestic flights for foreigners
Commencing on January 16th 2024, the Thai Civil Aviation Authority (CAAT) has implemented a stringent directive necessitating the presentation of a valid passport or an equivalent form of identification by all foreign nationals during the boarding process for domestic flights.

Foreigners must also present a physical boarding pass obtained from an airline counter or an automated check-in kiosk, or an electronic boarding pass sent via email by the airline. Photos of boarding passes or tickets on smartphones will not be accepted.

This recent stipulation signifies an intensified oversight of domestic travel, specifically designed to address concerns related to visa overstays amid a resurgence in the tourism sector.

The foreign travelers name on their passport must align precisely with the information on their boarding pass. Compliance with this requirement is mandatory for gaining access to domestic flight services.
