Touring north eastern Thailand takes you to some of the most amazing historical and natural attractions Thailand has to offer on these two routes. (See the other route to Ubon Ratchathani.) Regular daily services are available. This is the northern section that starts in Bangkok and travels to the very border with Laos in Nong Khai where you can cross into Vientiane. Services out of Bangkok can either deviate north at Kaeng Khoi Junction to Bua Yai Junction or continue on to Nakon Ratchasimi and then deviate north at Thanon Chira Junction to also reach Bua Yai Junction. From there the services go to the border at Nong Khai, stopping at Khon Kaen and Udon Thani along the way.
