Wat Phrathat Doi Wao is also known as the Scorpion Temple. It is above the Mae Sai markets and has views over to Myanmar.
To get to Wat Phrathat Doi Wao take a bus from Chiang Rai bus station up highway 1 to Mae Sai city bus station. They journey takes about 1.5 hours. From there take a red songthaew to the border crossing market on the Thailand side. Enter the covered alleyway of market stalls on the western side. You can climb the long steep stairway to the temple or take a motorbike ride to the top for a small fee.
